he says. "There will be Maryland crab," says Boulud. and the biggest part of the summer would be eating crab in Maryland and to break down crabs on brown paper, so I'm very excited about what I'm going to find, and in Virginia as well with the beautiful gardens."
New York City landmarks will be in the limelight
Boulud brought up the trend of smaller cities getting more exposure today and when asked which were his favorite, he named Charleston, Minneapolis and Seattle.
Harlem is set to take the stage next
Boulud will expand Bar Boulud, currently in New York City and London, to Boston's Mandarin Oriental in September. "Seafood will be very prominent at the restaurant, Bar Boulud, and we'll New York Yankees Hats New Era
Boulud quickly adds that Harlem is what he predicts people embracing next, saying there's a "vibrant cultural revival" and "Marcus Samuelsson [of Red Rooster] is doing a great job." We're told we can't miss next year's inaugural EatUp! festival (May 15 17).
"I love Minneapolis," says Boulud. "Gavin Kaysen, the chef de cuisine at Caf Boulud our previous chef de cuisine went back home to Minneapolis and while Minneapolis has been on the map, I think Gavin's going to make a statement of his arrival there."

Of New York City's food scene, Boulud says we've passed the food truck phase, we are phasing out of garage restaurants, and he hopes the city's landmarks begin to trend. We sat with New Era Dallas Stars iconic chef Daniel Boulud before the James Beard Foundation Taste America kick off event to see what's ahead for his empire, small town America and New York City. Boulud recently opened his second restaurant in Las Vegas, the 14th in his ever expanding portfolio, and was chosen as the honorary All Star chef for the Taste America tour with seven JBF awards under his belt.
